NOTES

 

    On a day in my London trip when the schedule was accomodating, I traipsed to the Westminster area in my bright red maxi dress for a little photoshoot. I did not enter the church itself as it was a bit too close to the closing time, so I satisfied myself with ambling around the adjacent Dean's Yard, which serves also as the school compound of Westminster school. It was a lovely place nonetheless, and, with school being out, almost deserted around late afternoon -- surely a stark contrast with Westminster Abbey itself, teeming with tourists from all over as it was. As evening came, I headed over to the historic Simpsons-in-the-Strand, Sherlock Holmes' favourite restaurant and an occasional shooting location for Downton Abbey. With belly filled to the brim with their signature Classic Beef Wellington and pudding, a culinary item had been ticked off my to-do (or rather, to-savour) list in London.

 

    在倫敦某天行程比較不緊迫的時候，我穿上了很久前買的大紅長洋裝跑到西敏區去拍點照片。因為其實已經接近關閉時間，所以我沒有進去西敏寺本身，而是在外圍跟隔壁的 Dean's Yard 溜達。Dean's Yard 其實也是 Westminster School 的校區範圍，而因為學校已經放假，所以到了下午幾乎沒什麼人，跟外面遊客擠爆的西敏寺本身就像兩個世界一樣。大概閒晃到黃昏時分，我搭了公車到很有歷史的英國餐廳 Simpsons-in-the-Strand，傳說中福爾摩斯最愛的餐廳，也是英劇 Downton Abbey 的拍攝場景之一。在嘗到了正宗的威靈頓牛排跟甜點入腹後，我終於可以把想品嘗的美食名單中的一項瀟灑的劃掉了  : )
