Hey Mister Trenchcoat

Hey mister trenchcoat, what gray weather we're having?
Hey mister sad thought, I sometimes wonder where you're going.

-- Pale Forest "Mr. Trenchcoat"

NOTES

Yes, yes, I know it is a little too late and too warm for trench coats right now, I just cannot resist  ;)   The weather was a little cloudy and cold (a rare thing in recent months, mind you), naturally I simply grabbed the coat, threw it over my jammies and did a half hour photoshoot in the backyard.

Thus hopefully you'll excuse the meagre number of photos and the uncomely shorts peeking out of the coatskirts -- this is, after all, a spur-of-the-moment thing.

In other news, two gorgeous dresses are on their way across the seas (or air, I'm not sure) and I cannot wait to try them on. As the French puts it so well, je brûle d'impatience (I BURN with impatience!) !!

Tea and London Fever

A long weekend forthcoming, days have been spent gallivanting around town in my red Cambridge satchel, and flipping through a picture book full of Parisian haberdasheries at a decidedly languid pace.

My "London mood" is traipsing all over (up to my fingertips, you see), so much so I am posting  a trench coat outfit post (with a clichéd nod to the British theme naturally ) in the next few days  ; )

Empty post promises aside, for the moment let's just chill out with a proper English tea at 5 o'clock ... I hope Mum's cheesecake turn out great with the new oven from Mother's Day  :)

La Chambre Verte

Pretty girl weeps in pearly green room,
blood falls from her swollen lip like wine.

-- Christina Rosenvinge "Green Room"

NOTES

Being a hobbit (for life, with resigned acceptance), walking pointy-toed in skyhigh heels is an art mastered early in life. I have trod in all kinds of heels at all kinds of altitudes (heel-wise of course), and this pair of glitter stilettos are the most uncomfortable ones I have ever encountered  :(

Well, in its defense I think it is mighty pretty, despite a little Vegas-esque. It works well with sequinned dresses (which I do not have, tragic!). I will keep it, I guess, as long as I do not have to shop in it, hah!

Pastels and Denim

Mais où sont-elles, les couleurs pastelles,
dans ce navrant cocktail de béton et de métal ?

-- Casey "Premier Rugissement"

NOTES

Pastels and denim may sound a tad appalling (perhaps because unsettling images of girly cowboys come to mind), but sometimes with a bit of luck and the right shades, they just may work.

In other news, I am lovin' eye-catching hair accessories in the summer, be it a hairband chock full of golden glitter that blinds the eyes, or a big blue bow that looks raided from a life-sized doll! ;))

Garden in My Room

There's a garden in my room,
It has apples sweet and ripe.

-- Merril Bainbridge "Garden in My Room"

NOTES

I bought this floral maxi dress ages ago and still it does not look dated. Sometimes a boater and some bright wedges are all that it needs for a day of leisurely picnic at the countryside (or in my own backyard as I tend to do).

It is weekend again, the rain has stopped and I'm trying to decide which outfit to shoot. Trench coat or glittery shoes? (I'm sorry if this sounds terribly unappealing ;) ) Anyway, bon week-end, dears!

On a Lazy Sunday

How much is that doggie in the window (arf, arf)
The one with the waggley tail.

-- Patti Page "Doggy in the Window"

Tomato and mixed green salad with vinaigrette

Poulet cordon bleu

NOTES

One of my favourite pastimes is to comb the unknown alleyways of Taipei for secluded little cafés in which to spend a quiet off day. The Café Parisienne is a tiny gem located within walking distance of my alma mater in Gongguan District.

Sure the place is really rather small, but I did have the loveliest time sipping Mariage Frères in dainty cups, traipsing around with the camera locked obstinately in my hands, and running my fingers through the soft wriggling warmth of ol' Lucky the dog.

If you are ever in the vicinity, and time is plentiful, a drop-by would certainly be rewarded with quietly joyful moments, in spades.
